Trends WHAT’S HOT, WHAT’S NOT

Sarasota Cabinet Trends WHAT’S HOT, WHAT’S NOT WOOD SPECIES: Exotic veneers continue to be popular in kitchen and bath designs. Rift cut woods of all species have come on very strong —- White Oak, Maple, Cherry and Walnut are the most popular of the rift cuts. We expect to see an increased demand for rift cut Red Oak as this is what has been popular in Europe recently and popular European cabinetry designs come across the Atlantic within about a year or two. Flat cut Maple is still the most popular of all species but clients are beginning to look…

Trends WHAT’S HOT / WHAT’S NOT

Sarasota Kitchen Trends WHAT’S HOT / WHAT’S NOT As with any industry, the popularity of materials and styles grows and wanes over time. As we publish this newsletter, here’s what’s hot and what’s not: WOOD SPECIES Exotic veneers are still very popular in kitchen and bath designs. We are doing a lot of work with Rift-Cut White Oak, Figured Maple and Quilted Maple. We continue to see an increase in Cherry, and while Flat Cut Maple is still quite strong, clients are beginning to look for something a bit different. A good alternative to Maple is Alder. Alder’s coloring is…

EUROTECH DESIGNERS: TRACEY SCALZO & DAVID ASHER

Sarasota kitchen EUROTECH DESIGNERS: TRACEY SCALZO & DAVID ASHER GUEST DESIGNER: CLAUDIA PORTER Claudia Porter uses her kitchen. I mean Claudia Porter really uses her kitchen. She loves to cook and loves to prepare meals for family gatherings. Her husband, Dr. Alan Porter, works a long day. It is an emotionally draining day, working long caring hours with cancer patients. Nothing helps refresh his spirit like coming home almost every day to a carefully prepared, home cooked meal and sharing some “catch-up” time with Claudia. When one uses a kitchen as much as the Porters do, it needs to be…

The built-ins in the family room and study is also from Cuisines Laurier. The cabinetry in three more baths and the laundry room is our most competitively priced custom line, Executive Kitchens.…

Sarasota Kitchen Remodeling: The Levine Residence

It’s not often that a Sarasota kitchen designer is fortunate enough to work on a project that’s almost completely designed before he meets the client. But when EuroTech Kitchen Designer, Jim Judsen, met Interior Designer, Ellen Levine, he was fortunate indeed! Ellen gave Jim her sketches of how she envisioned the Sarasota kitchen and Jim took it from there. Jim and his design team were able to take Ellen’s design concepts and translate them into plans and elevations, complete with the technical and engineering details necessary for fabrication and installation. Last October, Ellen found a 70’s condo that “took her…

Trends As with any industry, the popularity of materials and styles grows and wanes over time. As we publish this blog post, here’s what’s hot and what’s not in Sarasota kitchen remodeling: WOOD SPECIES Exotic veneers are very hot in Sarasota kitchen remodeling and bathroom remodeling. Rift-cut white oak, zebrawood, figured maple and lace wood, are all popular. Here in Florida we are still seeing an increase in cherry and mahogany. Maple continues to be strong although slowing a bit. Birch is picking up while red oak, ask, hickory, and pine remain flat. For custom-built furniture, we are beginning to…

Sarasota Kitchen Remodeling

SARASOTA – In the “good old days” of 1974, kitchens were cramped, even in an Essex House penthouse overlooking the bay. David Asher’s EuroTech Cabinetry took up the challenge of transforming the kitchen and opening it to the main rooms. The resulting contemporary kitchen won both its category (small kitchens) and the overall “best Kitchen in North America” awards at the National Kitchen & Bath Association 2005 Design Competition this week in Las Vegas. Asher and lead designer Judy Adams Hunt were there to collect the same honor that EuroTech won in 2004 for an open kitchen design on Longboat…
